Default calling hours

Give every new campaign calling hours automatically, so a campaign or batch created without hours of its own does not call at night.

Calls only go out inside a campaign's calling hours: the daily window, in the campaign's time zone, that you set when you create it. A campaign created without any hours, which is usual when it is created through the API, has no window at all, so its calls can go out at any time of day.

Default calling hours closes that gap for the whole workspace. It is off until an admin switches it on.

Switch it on

  1. Open Workspace settings.
  2. Under Default calling hours for new campaigns, tick the box.
  3. The hours are pre-filled with 9:00 am to 9:00 pm in India's time zone. Change the hours or the time zone if you need to, then choose Save.

Only admins can change it. Everyone who can see campaigns can see the current setting.

What it does

When it is on, a new campaign or batch that has no calling hours of its own is given these hours, every day of the week, in the time zone you chose:

  • A campaign created through the API with no calling hours gets them. So does a batch that creates its own campaign.
  • A campaign that sets any calling hours of its own keeps exactly those. The default never replaces hours someone chose.
  • A campaign created in the dashboard already has hours of its own, so nothing changes there.
  • Campaigns that already exist are not changed, and neither is a batch added to an existing campaign: it follows that campaign's hours.
  • If you send a start or end time for the campaign without a time zone, it is read the way it always was. Turning this on does not move any start or end time.

The hours are local time in the campaign's time zone. If the campaign names a time zone of its own, the hours are kept in that zone; otherwise the workspace's chosen zone is used.

Campaigns with no hours

Where a campaign has no calling hours, its page shows a note saying calls can go out at any time of day, with a pointer to this setting.

Your responsibility

Rules for commercial calls differ by country and by kind of call. In India, for example, commercial calls are generally limited to 9 am to 9 pm. These defaults are a safeguard to help you stay inside the hours you choose; they do not make a campaign compliant by themselves. You remain responsible for the hours you set, for consent, and for checking your lists against the do-not-disturb registry where it applies.
